Thionyl Chloride
Pale yellow to red, smoky liquid, with strong irritating odor. It is soluble in benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride and other organic solvents. When it is hydrolyzed by water, it is decomposed by heating. It is mainly used in the manufacture of acyl chlorides, and also in the production of pesticides, medicines, dyes and so on.
Molecular formula: SOCl ramming
Category of chemicals: inorganic substances - sulfides
Storage: sealed storage
Appearance: Light yellow to red liquid

Main uses
Chlorides for the synthesis or substitution of organic compounds, such as alcohols, hydroxyl groups, anhydrides, organic sulfonic acids and nitro compounds, chloroacylators for the synthesis of thiazoline, pyrrolidine and amides in closed-loop reactions, and catalysts for the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates, organic anhydrides, dye intermediates, etc. In addition, it is also used as an analytical reagent for the determination of aromatic amines and aliphatic amines. [4] It can be prepared by co-heating calcium sulfite with phosphorus pentachloride.
Used as chlorinating agent for organic synthesis, such as chlorination of alcohol hydroxyl group, chlorination of carboxylic acid, chlorination of anhydride, chlorine replacement of organic sulfonic acid or nitro compound. Manufacture of acyl chlorides. Manufacture of pharmaceutical intermediates, such as Tetramethrin and Oxytetracycline. It is also used as dehydrant and solvent.
Raw materials used to make batteries.

Operation, Disposal and Storage of Sulfoxide Chloride
Operating Notes: Closed operation, local exhaust. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating rules. Operators are advised to wear self-priming filter gas mask (full cover), rubber acid and alkali resistant clothing and rubber acid and alkali resistant gloves. Prevent steam from leaking into the air of the workplace. Avoid contact with alkaloids. Particular attention should be paid to avoiding contact with water. Handling should be light loading and unloading to prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with leak emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may retain harmful substances.
Storage Notes: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Storage temperature does not exceed 25 C and relative humidity does not exceed 75%. Keep the container sealed. It should be stored separately with alkali and avoid mixing. The storage area shall be equipped with emergency leak handling equipment and suitable storage materials.
